About Ohara Circle  
We are a circle of Ikebana enthusiasts of the Ohara School in Johor Bahru.

Description
Mission
Our mission is to encourage and promote the study of Ikebana from the Ohara School eventually seeking affiliation with the Ohara School Headquarters in Japan as we expand.

Under the guidance of Datin Ong Kid Ching, members of the Ohara Circle will undertake a committed approach to the study of technique and style of the Ohara School and also its creative expression. 

This will be facilitated by:

Regular classes
Regular classes will be conducted on Thursdays at Datin Kid Ching’s residence. See Lessons Calendar

Pursuit of grading and certification from Japan.
Ohara Circle members will be required to seek official recognition of their skills as they mature in their study of Ohara. Visit Ohara School Headquarters for the full curriculum.

Opportunities for display and exhibition of the circle’s floral art
Ohara Circle members will be provided regular opportunities for display and exhibition of their floral art.

Information and Inspiration
Ikebana also requires a good understanding of botanic materials, containers and regular exposure to inspirational material and the work of talented Ikebana artists. Members of Ohara Circle will be provided regular information and inspiration updates on these matters.

Events
Some events that we have planned include:
- joint events with other Ikebana International chapters.
- regular display/small exhibition at local restaurants with a social dinner at the restaurant for members and guests to view their work. 
- Field trips.

Membership
There are no fees, but members are required to be actively studying and pursuing certification in the Ohara School which will require payment for lessons and obtaining certificates from Japan.
